About Diana Goss

Professional Background

My approach to therapy is grounded in over thirty years of professional training and experience, integrating a range of psychotherapeutic models to meet each person's unique needs.

My initial training was undertaken at the London Institute of Relationships and Human Sexuality, where I studied humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, and psychodynamic approaches. I later deepened my understanding of psychodynamic therapy with a Diploma in Higher Education at the University of Portsmouth.

This was followed by two Postgraduate Certificates (Master's level) at the University of Southampton, one in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy, and one in Bereavement and Loss.

I hold a Master's degree in Research Methodology from Portsmouth University, where my research explored how medical treatments for sexual function, such as Viagra, can sometimes overlook the emotional and relational dimensions of sexual well-being for both people in the relationship.

My early training established a foundation in both the theory and practice of psychotherapy and psychosexual and relationship therapy. At the same time, my subsequent work has been shaped by many years of direct clinical experience and ongoing professional development. Over time, this has expanded into specialist areas of trauma, workplace wellbeing, neurodiversity, and psychosexual well- being. I have worked with individuals, couples, and professionals navigating complex emotional and relational challenges across a wide range of contexts.

I also have over twenty years' experience providing workplace counselling, supporting employees and professionals across a range of sectors with stress, role strain, and the emotional impact of organisational change on well-being and relationships.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have provided trauma support internationally, working with airline and other disaster response teams to assist individuals and families following major life events. I also work within the rail industry, supporting train drivers and staff following traumatic incidents. My experience includes working with individuals, families, and professionals affected by sudden or unexpected deaths, including those involving suicide.

I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, informed by both professional knowledge and lived experience. I offer a sensitive understanding of how attention, sensory and communication differences can influence confidence, connection, and intimacy.

Having trained through BUPA's oncology service to work with people affected by cancer and long-term illness, I can help them and their partners manage the emotional and relational impact of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

In addition to my therapeutic work, I have taught counselling and psychotherapy at diploma and university levels, and I provide clinical supervision to both qualified and trainee practitioners in psychosexual and relationship therapy.
